New Commercial Centre

MMP was invited to participate in a competition to submit a proposal for a commercial building on a vacant site within the MIA premises. It comprises underground parking, retail facilities as well as offices.

The proposed building is designed to be a landmark building since it will be the first building visitors to Malta will see as they leave the airport terminal building. The design concept is based on an elongated atrium traversed by two internal “streets” that form the heart of the building.

Additionally, the building is designed to incorporate a full range of passive energy-saving systems. The structural system has been selected following a detailed study of costs taking into consideration speed of erection, “cleanliness” of installation and impact on the MIA operation. Mechanical & Electrical systems would include energy saving systems to ensure an environmentally friendly building.
